At evolv Medical Aesthetics, we are committed to providing exceptional care and education to all of our skin care patients. Our medical skin care programs are based on the importance of building a foundation of healthy skin. We know that there are four fundamental building blocks that make up that foundation: sun protection, retinoids, antioxidants, and dermal growth factors. To keep the foundation solid, at-home daily care regimens supplemented with regular in-office treatments with a medical aesthetician are essential. Our medical aestheticians will evaluate your needs and concerns, recommend a comprehensive action plan including the proper products for your skin type and monitor your progress along the way.
What is a Medical Aesthetician?
A medical aesthetician is a skin care specialist with additional training under a physician in a medical environment. Our aestheticians have completed training and licensure under the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology and undergo extensive training with our Aesthetics Director and Dr. Barone before accepting patients. Additional training is obtained through our vendors such as PCA skin®, SkinMedica® Aesthetics, and Obagi® Medical, and through professional organizations such as the SPSSCS (Society of Plastic Surgical Skin Care Specialists). In addition to seeing their regular patients, our aestheticians work closely with Dr. Barone and the nursing staff to treat skin cancer patients, patients with pre-cancerous lesions, and conditions such as acne, sun damage, and rosacea. Dr. Barone and evolv’s professional staff also work closely with our dermatology colleagues to provide thorough and exceptional care.VISIA Complexion Analysis
Our consultation process begins with VISIA complexion analysis, a system that generates quantitative values for skin features that previously could only be evaluated subjectively. The VISIA system uses technology that can detect and analyze conditions below the surface of the skin. This allows our aestheticians and medical professionals to customize treatment plans for your unique skin type. The analysis is a simple process. The aesthetician helps position your face in the booth, and the camera quickly takes a series of photos. The computer will perform a quick analysis of the images, comparing your images to a database of other individuals. Each image in the report displays a certain characteristic: red (vascular) spots, sun damage and brown (melanin) spots, wrinkles, pores, texture, and acne-causing bacteria. The aesthetician then uses this data to recommend a treatment plan designed specifically for you. Repeat analyses can be done during the course of treatment to measure your program’s effectiveness.
