Body Contouring refers to a variety of surgical and non-surgical procedures which improve the body shape and silhouette. Contouring options are effective in removing or lifting loose or sagging skin, removing unwanted collections of fat, and tightening muscle laxity. Just about any area may be improved by a body contouring procedure, and there are plenty of options. Our practice has extensive experience with many proven modalities in body contouring, and we work with each patient to provide a personalized program that is safe and cost effective.
This groundbreaking technology breaks up fat and tightens skin to smooth body contours, reduce the appearance of cellulite and remove stubborn fatty deposits that don’t budge, even with diet and exercise. VASER Shape is a non-invasive therapy that can be done on its own, or in conjunction with liposuction procedures to enhance the results. However, this procedure is not intended to replace liposuction for removal of large amounts of fat.
VASER Shape uses ultrasound waves to break up fat by creating a bubble in the fat cell that bursts and removes the cell. Lymphatic massage is then used after the ultrasound treatment to help with the absorption of fat and to help it drain through the lymph system. VASER Shape’s ultrasound component uses two depths of ultrasound:
• Continuous – works superficially to tighten skin and for cellulite
• Modulate – operates deeper to reduce fat
Some results are visible immediately, but a series of 5 one-hour treatments are recommended for best results.
Maintenance treatments may be needed on occasion and are available at a discounted rate. Pricing on VASER Shape can be discussed with our Patient Coordinator, April Fairchild. A complete consultation with Dr. Barone is required before the treatment series begins. To schedule your consultation, visit the front desk or call the office at 419.720.2008.
We employ several options for our patients requiring Liposuction. VASER® Ultrasonic LipoSelection®, a system using ultrasonic technology to target unwanted fat while avoiding other types of tissue such as nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. VASER Lipo has a quicker recovery time than traditional lipo, and also has the added benefit of skin tightening that results in a smoother silhouette.
New technologies in body contouring are emerging, and we are excited to announce the addition of SlimLipo to our practice. SlimLipo is the most scientifically advanced and proven method of selective fat removal and skin tightening available. This body contouring laser utilizes two specific wavelengths of laser light energy – one to target only adipose tissue, leaving other soft tissue such as nerves and blood vessels undisturbed while fat melts away, and the other to tighten the skin.
The abdomen is the most popular area for body contouring, and can be treated in several different ways. Abdominoplasty, or “tummy tuck”, treats primarily the front and sides of the abdomen, while a body lift or belt lipectomy can treat the abdomen, hips, and back.
In order to provide a balanced body shape, contouring and lifting of the sides and back of the trunk (body lifting) may be considered or combined with abdominoplasty procedures. In some patients, such as those with significant weight loss and subsequent skin and tissue laxity, the lifting and contouring may be extended completely around the waist, sides and back (circumferential body lift). This may benefit the hips, lateral and medial thighs, and buttocks. Multiple body contouring approaches can be used for a balanced and harmonious result.
Brachioplasty, or arm lift, can improve the appearance of the upper arms and bra-line area by removing excess fatty tissue and addressing skin laxity. Liposuction is commonly utilized with this procedure. Liposuction can be done on its own or is often paired with other body shaping techniques.
Contouring of the thighs can be achieved by a medial, lateral, or circumferential thigh lift (thighplasty), which may also involve VASER Lipo along with lifting and excess skin removal.
Buttock shaping and contouring can be achieved in several ways, including fat transfer, lifting of the tissues, or buttock augmentation with an implant.
In many cases, the most effective and longest lasting results involve a combination of body contouring techniques and procedures. It should be emphasized that body contouring is not a substitute for adequate exercise, weight loss and proper nutrition habits, which are always recommended before undergoing any body shaping surgery.
All surgery patients are given a series of postoperative therapeutic services that aid in the recovery process. Our massage therapists and aestheticians have had extensive training to provide specialized massage techniques including manual lymphatic massage and ultrasound that encourage quicker healing times, and ease bruising and swelling.
