Dr. Barone was invited to speak in Troy, Michigan at the Detroit Plastic Surgery Society on Thursday April 7, 2011. The topic of the evening was new research and advances in breast cancer reconstruction. Dr. Barone is a clinical instructor and a teaching faculty member of the Allergan Academy, whose mission is to educate other physicians, encourage practice innovation and improve results for breast surgery patients.
The Allergan Academy programs have been held on 6 continents and have instructed over 6000 physicians worldwide. The Academy was founded by Dr. Patrick Maxwell, with whom Dr. Barone completed a fellowship at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
At our practice, Susie Szaroleta RN BSN, head of nursing, is the study coordinator for a number of clinical research programs with Dr. Barone, investigating and improving results and safety in breast reconstruction and augmentation. Many thanks to Susie for her countless hours of work on the research studies, along with everything else that she does, to benefit our patients!
On March 24, 2011 Toledo Children’s Hospital Foundation hosted its annual event – Going Wild for Kids! – at the Hilton Garden Inn in Perrysburg. The evening was a benefit for the community-wide Autism Collaborative. The Autism Collaborative is the result of a grassroots movement in northwest Ohio to bring together local healthcare organizations, support organizations, educational institutions, community groups, and parents of children with autism to improve access to much-needed services and support. Also, the initiative will enhance treatment, education, research, and advocacy in the community.
The event was Co-Chaired by Michelle Jaffe, of Harold Jaffe Jewelers and Meredith Sherman, of Sophie’s Sister. Evolvs’ very own Angel Elden, along with Pam Henry of Harold Jaffe Jewelers, worked very hard on the decorations for the event which was attended by over 400 people in the Toledo community. Artwork from the Shared Lives Studio was used to accent the occasion. Shared Lives Studio it is a nonprofit visual arts center where artists with developmental disabilities create, exhibit and sell art.
Evolv was one of many sponsors of the evening, providing packages which were auctioned off during the live and silent auctions. Also raffled off was a one-week stay in a beachside condo on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. Jerry Anderson and Chrys Peterson were major participants along with Melissa Voetsch, who shared her very personal journey with autism that touched all in attendance.
Evolv Medical Aesthetics will be continuing our support of the Autism Collaborative so stay tuned for future events or how you can help us support a great cause!
